Save the Date! Research and Statecraft: An Encounter with the Global South (Research Talk in English)

For the first Research Talk of the year, Hon. Frederick Iguban Rey, MSc. MA. PhD. from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) will share with us his knowledge and first-hand experience on approaching policy-making from research.
Hon. Frederick Iguban Rey is a political sociologist from the Department of Political Science and the Sociology Department of the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (UST), Manila, Philippines. He holds a doctorate degree in Political Science, a Master of Science degree in Sociology, and a Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing. He has specialized in the study of the Philippine political culture.
He now leads the Politics and Public Policy Research Interest Group (PPP- RIG) of the Research Center for Social Sciences (RCSSED) and the Research Utilization Unit (RUU- RCSSED) of the university. He also holds a post as a research associate of the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain) under the Institute of European Studies and Human Rights specifically on the role of the European Union in ethical governance in the era of artificial intelligences. As a research associate, he has received commissioned research from national and international research organizations and agencies like the World Bank, the United Nations or the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Aside from his teaching and research duties in the university, he is also on his third term as a municipal councilor (2013-2016, 2016-2019, 2019-2022) of the Municipality of Malinao, Province of Aklan.
